When your family goes away on vacation, you probably worry about your home security. Use these tips to feel prepared to go away for vacation, and for year-round use!
- Have a trusted neighbour or friend check in on your home and pets while you are away.
- Install security cameras to monitor your home. There are many kinds available on the market now to improve your security.
- If possible leave a car in the driveway while you are away – make it look like someone is home or regularly at the house.
- Put up beware of large dog stickers/signs on your home even if you don’t have a dog. The thought of a big dog can be enough to deter bad guys.
- Ensure you have good locks on your sheds and garages. This is especially important if your garage is attached to your home.
- For extended vacations consider shutting off the main for water, some insurance companies require you to do this when going away for a long time.
Keeping your family safe is important. Improving your home security can give you peace of mind, and allow you to enjoy your vacation!
